Team Effort for the Win
SensoryEffects was recently recognized with the International Dairy Foods Association’s (IDFA) Annual Most Innovative Ice Cream Prototype for our Spicy Mango Raspberry Fiesta Ice Cream at the 2018 Innovative Ice Cream Contest. The competition, held each year during IDFA’s Ice Cream Technology Conference, showcases the creativity of U.S. ice cream makers and flavorings suppliers and captures upcoming flavor trends in the ice cream and frozen dessert industry.
Spicy Mango Raspberry Fiesta ice cream was named the most innovative prototype flavor this year. It is a mango and red-pepper ice cream with a sweet swirl of raspberry that was part of our FeatureFlavors launch earlier this year.
This win comes on the heels of awards from 2011, 2013 and 2014 for most innovative ice cream, and recognition in the flavored milk category in 2014, as well as multiple other honors for innovation in ice cream and frozen desserts over the past decade. Which leads one to wonder, how does this group keep innovating?
According to Angela Spihlman, Technical Development Manager at SensoryEffects, its experience, “We have over 200 years of combined research experience in our research and development labs when you look at our entire team.”
If you ask Steve McGowan, Senior Food Scientist, get ready, because he has a lot to say. “There is a ton of experience in our labs in doing this. Combine it with the rapport our team has and it’s a winning combination,” he says. “I am the lucky guy that gets to make the flavors and accept the award, but this is a true team effort, though. Every piece of this team comes together every day to make the best products we can. No one individual owns this win. It’s the entire team, that creates the concept and the recipes from scratch and then I get to make this awesome ice cream.”
The truth likely lies in the middle of the experience and camaraderie of this team. Let them bring some innovation to your ice cream and frozen deeserts. Contact us for a demonstration of this award-winning ice cream.
